How to visualize a Pixel

This week began with an incredible idea from Drs. Wettergreen and Hunter. They suggested that we make our device wedge like shaped  to allow for a more natural way of placing the patient’s foot on the glass pad. This idea not only proved successful, it also increased the detect-ability of our device. Since detect-ability is our main design criteria, we know that our target for the summer has been achieved with the new design. We conducted a series of experiments to prove this and our device passed with amazing results

On Wednesday afternoon we went for a baseball match, i enjoyed the experience because it was refreshing to us, after being hit hard by project demands of course.Today i spent much of  my time doing a research on image processing and size calculation. My goal was to develop an algorithm which can be applied to measure the size and rate of growth of a foot ulcer   if present. I also did a series of experiments by taking pictures of a line with known length at different heights and camera angles. Using adobe PhotoShop, and Ms Excel i was able to come up with the relationship between size and pixels for images taken at different heights using the same camera and for different camera angles. Though i managed to come up with convincing estimates, the process is complex. Dr. Wettergreen then suggested that it would be better to have a ruler on the glass pad which the user can have as a reference for size estimation.
