Prototyping

In general the whole week we been working on Creating Medium fidelity prototypes of the cervices and testing the thermochromic paint on the models.

During the end of the projects week 4 we emailed our client Sonia Parra updating her on the progress of the project. Among the three  prototyping methods we used, she prefered the use of the Solid works in designing the cervices, due to the symmetrical Structural of the cervix produced. Beginning of the week we concentrated on working with Solid works and trying to learn using different features to Come up with more realistic textures for the normal cervix and cervices with the Nabothian Cysts, Precancerous and Cancerous (Image below) it was quite challenging and improving day by day in developing the cervices textures with Solid Works as we are still learning to use it.

On Thursday we had a meeting with our clients Sonia Parra who came by the OEDK, we presented our progress on project, asked her project improvement questions and also to see other existing models they use and currently working on. The feedback from our client has made it so much easier to work on this project and address all necessary issues to be put into consideration. We scheduled a meeting with our client for 7/12 where we going to present our project to another Doctor whose going to evaluate our work and determine whether it can be implemented.

After the client meeting we joined the rest of the SEED interns painting the Tree House, which was quite relaxing and gave us a chance to practice our finishing skills!

Testing

This was an everyday day work, we concentrated much on the color changing mechanism to get it to its Optimum Color changing process. We tested for;

  1. White Color Intensity > trying out different Ratios of thermochromic paint to Enamel paint
  2. Duration of Color change > aiming to achieve a 40 seconds color change transition
  3. Use of other types of paint to mix with the thermochromic pigments
